Meet The Owners
James Fields
As a Brooklyn native and Morehouse College Graduate with an MBA from Long Island University in Finance, I have been in the barber/cosmetology industry for over 25 years. I was always fascinated with barbering as a child. My parents would take me to the barbershop, and I would be amazed. Barbers were also the “cool” guys in the neighborhood so that also made me gravitate towards the craft.
While in college in Atlanta, the local barbershop was the hot spot, fun, and jubilant environment, lots of jokes, and most of all, they were making a lot of money due to the traffic. That shop inspired me to say I want to open a barbershop one day. So, upon graduation, I went back to Brooklyn, NY, and had to walk 8 long blocks to get to a barbershop. So, I noticed my area needed a more convenient shop. From there, Brooklyn’s Finest Barbershop was birthed, with two other locations soon after.
Barbering has been so good to me. It inspired me to want to pass on the craft to as many people as possible. If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
